Anglers hooking up on the Miramichi

At least the fish started showing some appreciation this week on the Miramichi and anglers starting hooking and seeing some fish.

Country Haven Lodge said another rain and yet another raise in water for September. Seeing some fish over the weekend but not the numbers we should have for September.
Tuesday they landed 3 salmon on the Cains and 4 on the Renous. Also landed 2 salmon and a grilse on the North West Miramichi.

Around the mouth of Cains river are fishermen are hooking a couple each day. Guide Eddy Colford of Black Brook Salmon Club said most fish are jumping in the middle of the river and some are bright looking fish. He also said the Cains was fishing good.

Conditions at the Ledges Inn are improving. The last few days there have been more and more fish about. Some of of anglers are landing a few fish each day since Tuesday.

Fishermen at Big Hole Brook are seeing some fish but not big numbers. Mostly 3 to 4 fish per day with four fishermen fishing.

Sutters Salmon Club in the Doaktown area also has been picking up a few salmon over the last couple days.

Keith Wilson of Wilson's Sporting Camps said angling is picking up with a few fish being landed and a some jumping. The river is dropping very good. The Cains is looking very good with a little higher than normal conditions and should be good on the upper stretch in the next few days.

On the upper stretches in the Boistown area of the Main SW Miramichi, Dan Bullock said the weather is looking very good over the next few days for fishing.
It was a challenging yet successful week at Bullocks Lodge with everyone in Camp hooking fish. Hot flies included Glitter Bear, Cuttysark, Celtic Beauty, Guiding Lady, Green Slime and some action to the GPS -Golden Pheasant Spey. So pretty much a mixed box of flies. Dan said the water is shaping up to be perfect as we speak.

River temperatures are in the low 50's to high 50's. Sink tips are being used by a few and a selection of sizes of flies.

For daily reports always check the local fly shops in the area like WW Doak in Doaktown, and Curtis River Outfitters, Trout Brook Fly Shop on the NW and George's Fly Shop in Renous.

With very good reports up and down the river, fall is shaping up for salmon fishing. So with some positive reports on the fishing, tight lines from the Miramichi.
