Fishing Picking Up On Miramichi

Thursday morning started out very very well on the lower stretches of the South West Miramichi River! The water was in the low 60's and the fish were taking, yes taking. The river is at a very good height for the lower stretches from the mouth of Cains River to Quarryville.

This photo is John Colford with a nice salmon this morning at pool 66, he landed it on a green machine. Peter Beresford landed a grilse and raised a few more on a white tail green machine. This is Donald Colford with a nice salmon his sport Bill Knobblock caught near the mouth of Cains River also on a green machine.

Zachery Colford landed 2 salmon and a grilse and raised a few more all on dry flies, one salmon was close to 30 pounds. I landed a salmon and grilse on a Orange Bomber, it was all orange deer hair with white ends and brown hackle on a number 2/9671 hook. There was a lady fishing at a club that landed a 38 pound salmon below the mouth of Cains. Caleb Dunn of Salisbury landed a grilse on a bomber.
